Rated as first class city, Cagayan De Oro is the provincial capital of the Province of Misamis Oriental. The city lies along the northern coastline on the Mindanao Island and southern part of the Philippines. The place was first inhabited around 377 A.D. In 1738, Spanish dominance was felt in the city and on February 27, 1872, the Spanish Governor-General Carlos Maria de La Torre declared Cagayan as the permanent capital of Segundo Distrito de Misamis. The city was prompted by the presence of the Americans in 1898. After years of trouble, finally economic activities became normal. Today, Cagayan de Oro is a booming commerce and trade center. The city is served by Lumbia Airport. It is the only airport in the Province of Misamis Oriental operating flights to Cagayan De Oro.
